Hot tub removal

An old hot tub is heavy, awkward, and usually wider than the gate it came in through. We cut it up where it sits, load every piece, clean up the bits, and haul it away in a single visit.

Hot tubs come up constantly around here. A lot of houses in Windham, Bedford, Hudson, Andover, and North Andover came with one, and sooner or later the pump dies, the shell cracks, or the family just stops using it. Then it sits, full of rainwater and leaves, until someone decides the backyard would be better without it.

Getting one out is a demolition job more than a pickup. The tub is an acrylic shell over a frame, packed with foam, wrapped in a cabinet, with pumps, a heater, and a control box underneath. We cut it into sections two people can carry, pull the equipment out along the way, load everything, and rake up the foam and screws before we leave. If the deck under it is coming out too, we can usually do that on the same visit.

You handle two things before we come: have a licensed electrician disconnect the power and make the wiring safe, and drain the tub a day or two ahead. We take it from there.

How it goes

Four steps, no surprises.

1

Electrician and drain

A licensed electrician disconnects the tub and makes the wiring safe. You drain it a day or two ahead so the shell and foam dry out.

2

Photos for a quote

Text a photo of the tub and the path to the driveway: gates, stairs, fences, and whether it's on a deck or a pad.

3

We cut and load

Cover off, equipment out, shell and frame cut into carryable sections. Loud and messy for an hour or two, then gone.

4

Clean site

We rake up the foam and hardware and haul everything away. Pumps, motors, and the heater go to scrap recycling.

Pricing

What changes the price.

You pay for the space your items take up in the truck. Labor, loading, hauling, and disposal are in the one number we quote before we start. Three things move it:

  1. Size of the tub and whether it's a standard spa or a large swim spa
  2. Access: gates, stairs, slopes, and distance to the truck
  3. Whether the deck or platform underneath is coming out too

What people say

Real reviews from real jobs.

Came to remove (meaning they took it apart for us) our medium sized back yard deck the very next day, which we really appreciate. Took about 4 hours. Price was also very fair for such work!

Questions

Straight answers.

Do I need an electrician before you remove the hot tub?

For most tubs, yes. They're wired to their own circuit, and the wiring has to be disconnected and made safe by a licensed electrician before the tub is moved. A small plug-in tub just needs to be unplugged.

Should the hot tub be drained before you come?

Yes. Drain it a day or two ahead using the drain valve or a pump, and send the water across the lawn away from the house, not into a storm drain or a stream. A drained tub is lighter, and the foam has time to dry out.

Can you take the deck out with the hot tub?

Usually, yes, on the same visit. Years of weight and moisture often leave the deck boards under a tub soft or rotted. Mention the deck when you book and we'll quote both together. A concrete pad is a separate question; we'll look at it when we're there.

How long does hot tub removal take?

Most standard tubs are cut up, loaded, and gone in one to three hours depending on access. Add time if the deck is coming out too.

Do you remove hot tubs in Northern Massachusetts?

Yes. Methuen, Haverhill, North Andover, Andover, Dracut, and Tewksbury are all on our regular route from Salem, NH, with no extra charge for Massachusetts jobs.
